Video Installation

Innermost

‘Innermost’ delves into the concept of home as a repository of spatial memories and its intangible nature. The project comprises a video installation, a poem, and objects that together shape an imaginary landscape. These landscapes come to life using a collection of old personal letters, with depth applied through 3D software and 3d prinited scultupures.
While the idea of ‘Home’ has become elusive due to constant movement and change, these letters symbolise the existence of a space where one can settle long enough to gather non-utilitarian possessions. It affirms residency and helps maintain connections, ultimately resulting in the exchange of such letters. By combining multiple components in the old-school Asian Karaoke style video, the work encourages the audience to occupy a space, invoking sound and encouraging the reading of text out loud. Therefore, ‘Innermost’ aims to create spatiality from these flat, fragile texts and papers.
