Video Installation

G7 + 1
G7 +1 is a seven-screen installation within a dinner setting. With 7 public figures that include a politician, an activist, and celebrities. We carefully chose the people that would be at this surreal dinner. These included Oprah Winfrey, Stephen Hawking, Greta Thunberg, Donald Trump, Billie Eilish, Pope Francis and Josh the cop. we created a conversation at the dinner table between these figures and placed them on screens. Whilst writing the script we focused on a dark comedy approach, the discussion these figures prompt deprived of thorough research of interviews, speeches, etc. on what they said in regard to the climate crisis. The spectator is encouraged to join them as the 8th person at the table., As the conversation progressed, tomato sauce is thrown on their faces covering their mouths and jaws. By taking away their public authority in such a private setting, the meaning and power of their language has changed radically. The concept of people having a feast with empty plates created an ironic juncture. By creating a metaphor where food is thrown at them instead of it appearing on the plate we induced a commentary on food depletion and the capitalist nature of this era, finally, we addressed the endless consumption of the debates around climate change.
